Full Episode Transcript

Gary: Before we even get started, we were already talking about some of the crazy things guys ask for in camming. Some want to be called certain names, some want elaborate role-play scenarios, and some requests are just completely out there.

Anja Peach: Yeah. Sometimes you really have to get into character and come up with these crazy role-plays. It’s interesting.

Gary: And just a quick reminder, if you want to support the podcast, you can become a YouTube channel member or support us on Patreon for exclusive content and other perks.

So, Anja, how do you actually pronounce your name?

Anja Peach: Anya.

Gary: Is that French?

Anja Peach: Russian.

Gary: Russian! Anya. That makes sense.

Anja Peach: Yeah. Names like Anna and Anastasia can come out as Anya in Russian. That’s how you pronounce it.

Gary: I don’t know why I thought it was French. So, Anya, how did you get started in this business?

Getting Started in Camming

Anja Peach: I had a friend who was a cam girl, and she kind of got me started. That was about four and a half years ago.

I had just become a mom. I had a newborn and needed to be able to stay home with my child, take care of him, and still make money. Camming was the only job I could find that gave me that kind of flexibility.

Gary: Four and a half years ago? So you’re basically a veteran at this point.

Anja Peach: Yeah. It’s been a long time.

Gary: What platform did you start on?

Anja Peach: I started on Streamate.

Gary: Oh, yeah.

Anja Peach: In hindsight, that was kind of insane. It was a good platform to start on, but the percentage they take is crazy. I don’t know if people talk about that enough.

Gary: Wait. They take like 70 percent?

Anja Peach: Yeah.

Gary: Hold on. So if somebody gives you a dollar, they’re taking 70 cents and you’re getting 30 cents?

Anja Peach: Yep.

Gary: That’s insane.

Eventually, Anja moved away from Streamate and began working primarily on Stripchat.

Why Anja Prefers Stripchat

Anja Peach: Now I’m on Stripchat, and I love it. I’ve been working there full-time for about a year.

I also work through an agency, which is something I’ll get into more because it’s been a pretty interesting experience.

Gary: What do you like about Stripchat?

Anja Peach: I just like it. I feel like I can be myself, and I have somebody who has my back. The agency doesn’t take too much, and I feel like I can get away with a little bit more because of the support they provide.

Gary: So Stripchat is basically your main thing?

Anja Peach: Yeah. I have a Fansly on the side, too, but I struggled with consistency. I had too much going on and stopped posting enough.

At one point I had a good number of subscribers, and then eventually I had basically nothing. I haven’t had any real traction there in almost a year.

Gary: Even though you’re posting?

Anja Peach: Yeah. I still post, but now they’re also doing all this short-form video stuff, almost like porn TikToks. I’m thinking maybe I need to get into that.

But honestly, I mostly just do Stripchat because it’s easier.

Working With an Agency

Gary: You said you’re with an agency. What’s the name?

Anja Peach: They’re called Imperium House.

Gary: So what does the agency actually do for you?

Anja Peach: First of all, they help with traffic. They bring in more clients and help with incoming traffic.

If I get overwhelmed, they can also help me organize things a little bit.

They also change my location and remove location information from my livestreams, pictures, and videos so I’m not as easily identifiable.

Gary: That’s actually a really good point.

Anja Peach: Yeah. Safety is a big part of it. They make me feel safer.

Gary: Especially because there are websites that take cam girls’ livestreams, clip them, and then sell or redistribute them. Do you think your agency protects you from that?

Anja Peach: From what I understand, everything is secure and confidential. I don’t think my stuff is being clipped and sold, but now you’ve made me curious. I’m going to have to test that.

Gary: We could literally look you up right now.

Anja Peach: Let’s see what happens.

They searched for Anja online during the conversation and found one of her profiles, which led to a discussion about Stripchat’s My Club feature.

Stripchat’s My Club and Content

Anja Peach: My Club is basically like a little Fansly attached to the streaming platform. A lot of streaming sites are trying to put everything in one place now: livestreams, photos, videos, and subscriptions.

They promote it on other websites, too.

Gary: So it’s basically an additional place where people can buy your content?

Anja Peach: Yeah. People have bought photos and videos through it, but I haven’t really gotten a lot of subscribers there because most of the people on Stripchat are primarily looking for live shows.

Gary: So you’ve experienced both doing everything yourself and having an agency behind you?

Anja Peach: Exactly.

I did everything myself for about three years. I didn’t start working with the agency until about a year ago.

Three Years Independent

Gary: How was doing everything yourself?

Anja Peach: It was okay, but it was very on and off.

I also wasn’t in the best place personally at the time. I was drinking a lot, which I don’t anymore. Now I’m much more consistent.

I hadn’t really experimented with a bunch of different sites either. I started on Streamate and eventually moved to Stripchat.

I was also interested in livestreaming on Fansly, but I needed to figure out OBS.

Gary: OBS can be intimidating at first.

Anja Peach: Yeah. I wanted to figure it out because I thought livestreaming on Fansly would be awesome, but I never really figured out how to get everything set up.

Gary: Once you figure OBS out, though, it’s actually pretty easy.

Anja Peach: That’s what I’ve heard.

How Anja Found Her Agency

Gary: So you were doing this for about three years before joining the agency. How did you find them?

Anja Peach: Through another friend. She gave me their number, and I started talking to them.

It wasn’t an immediate decision. I was very skeptical at first. I didn’t trust them. I was basically thinking, “I don’t know who you are or what you’re doing.”

Eventually, though, I decided it was worth trying.

Gary: When you say “agency,” is it actually an agency? Or is it more like promoters?

Anja Peach: I don’t even really like calling them an agency because I don’t know what else to call them. I could call them promoters.

Gary: I’ve heard a lot of cam girls say agencies are scams.

Anja Peach: I’m sure some are. I don’t know enough about other agencies to compare mine to them.

Originally, I thought mine might be a scam, too. I was suspicious and didn’t like the way some things were handled. But now I actually like having them.

It’s convenient, and it makes things easier for me.

When Agency Help Goes Wrong

Anja Peach: There have been times when the agency has actually made things harder for me.

For example, sometimes they would try to help during chats and say things to my customers that I would never say.

I’d be thinking, “Why would you say that? You’re going to scare this person away.”

Eventually, I told them not to interfere with my chats unless I specifically asked them to.

Gary: So they have actually hurt you in some situations, but you still feel like they’re helping overall?

Anja Peach: Yeah. I know my traffic is good because of them most of the time.

Gary: How exactly are they getting people to your Stripchat room?

Anja Peach: I think they put advertisements on other sites, possibly Chaturbate and other places. I’m not 100 percent sure.

They also have members and groups of people they showcase models to. I don’t completely understand how that system works.

Gary: Have you actually looked into those websites?

Anja Peach: No. I probably should have asked more specific questions. I’ve asked them a lot of things, but sometimes I didn’t even know what questions I should be asking.

Some of it still feels a little fishy to me.

But at the end of the day, it works for me.

Learning to Protect Yourself

The conversation turned into a broader discussion about scams and why it’s so important for creators to protect themselves.

Anja Peach: That’s the thing with scams. They make you comfortable. They make you feel like you can trust them.

I want to see the good in people. I naturally want to believe that people’s intentions are good.

But especially in this industry, you have to remember that there are bad people out there.

I’ve been scammed several times over the years.

People have told me they’d pay me, and then they didn’t.

If I’d had somebody mentoring me when I started, someone saying, “Watch out for these types of people. Make sure you get paid first. Don’t let people talk you down on your prices,” it would have saved me a lot of trouble.

Gary: That’s exactly what you’d hope an agency would teach you.

Anja Peach: I had to learn most of that on my own.

And that’s one reason I think having somebody who has actually been a cam model could be valuable. Someone might know what customers like, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they understand what it’s actually like to be the person behind the camera.

The Importance of Getting Paid First

Anja Peach: If you’re new to camming or online adult content, you need to understand this:

Get paid first.

Don’t let somebody convince you that they’re going to pay you later.

Don’t send content because somebody promises they’ll buy something afterward.

Don’t let somebody convince you that your prices are too high.

People will try all kinds of things to get free content.

Gary: It’s basically like any other service industry. If a contractor comes to your house, they aren’t going to build you an entire kitchen based on a promise that you’ll pay them eventually.

Anja Peach: Exactly.

I’ve had people tell me they’re going to buy things from my Amazon wishlist. They’ll even send me receipts supposedly showing that they purchased the items.

Then nothing arrives.

That happened to me more than once.

How Scammers Target New Creators

Gary: So what do these people actually say to get free content?

Anja Peach: When you’re new, they’ll say things like:

“I’ll pay you afterward.”

“Just send me a picture first.”

“Send me a picture of your boobs.”

“Send me a picture of your ass.”

“Send me something and I’ll pay you.”

When you’re inexperienced, you might believe them.

Now I know better. I’ll simply say, “No, I charge for that.”

And if they say it’s too expensive, I’ll tell them to go find it somewhere else.

Gary: So when you were new, there were times when somebody would ask you for something and you’d actually send it?

Anja Peach: A couple of times, yes.

They get very good at manipulating people. They know exactly what to say.

The “Glenn” Story

Anja Peach: There was one guy I knew who was especially bad.

Let’s call him Glenn.

He was someone I had known before. Not a close friend, but I knew who he was.

He would talk about wanting to have sex with me, wanting to meet up, and wanting me to give him things for free.

I also knew he’d apparently been doing similar things to other women, telling them he’d pay and then never paying.

He even tried to compare me to other women and question why I would charge him for things.

I told him, “I’m not even going to sleep with you. But if I were, I’d charge you.”

Gary: Why would he even bring that up?

Anja Peach: Exactly. It was ridiculous.

He wanted a dick rating, too, and wanted me to type everything out. I sent the content, and he still owes me around $60 from years ago.

That’s one of the reasons I don’t give out Snapchat anymore.

Gary: So when guys ask for your Snap?

Anja Peach: I tell them no. They can pay for my content on the platform, talk to me there, or book a show.

I’m not giving people another way to get free content.

The Weirdest Requests

Gary: What’s the weirdest thing anybody has ever requested from you?

Anja Peach: That’s a difficult question because what’s weird to one person isn’t necessarily weird to somebody else.

When I first started camming, I had no idea what I was going to encounter.

I’d been watching Cam Girl Diaries since I started camming, and I remember thinking the show was interesting. But nobody can really prepare you for the things you’re going to see or how some of those interactions are going to make you feel.

That’s why I always tell new cam girls that they don’t have to do anything they don’t want to do.

You can say no.

Don’t let anyone manipulate you into doing something that makes you uncomfortable.

And establish your boundaries ahead of time.

The Advice Anja Wishes She Had Received

Anja Peach: If I had somebody mentoring me when I started, I wish they’d told me:

Get paid beforehand.

Know your prices.

Don’t let people negotiate you down just because they say something is too expensive.

Know what you’re willing to do and what you’re not willing to do.

And remember that some people will intentionally waste your time.

I’ve had people ask me extremely specific questions about my kinks. Sometimes their kink is simply talking to you about your kink.

If I’m in a good mood and I want to answer questions, fine.

But a lot of the time, they’re just using the conversation as part of their own sexual experience without actually paying for anything.

Role-Playing a Scam

Gary: Let’s role-play this.

Let’s say we’re on Fansly and I see your profile. I message you and say, “Hey, baby. Can I see more?”

What should you say?

Anja Peach: “You have to pay first. I have subscriptions and different options you can purchase.”

Gary: That makes sense. But how do scammers actually get people to give them things for free?

Anja Peach: Especially when you’re new, they make it sound harmless.

They’ll say, “I’ll pay you after. Just send me one picture.”

Now I know exactly what to say.

“I charge for that.”

And if they respond with, “That’s too expensive. I can find it cheaper somewhere else,” my answer is basically, “Then go find it somewhere else.”

I don’t care.

Strange Fetishes and Boundaries

The conversation moved into some of the stranger requests Anja has encountered while working.

Anja Peach: People have asked me to do all kinds of strange things.

One person even started talking about my cat in a way that crossed a very serious boundary after my cat walked into the frame.

I immediately told him to leave my room and banned him.

That’s one nice thing about these platforms. You can block or ban people.

You don’t have to tolerate somebody just because they’re a paying customer.

Gary: What’s another weird request?

Anja Peach: People have asked me to lick my armpit.

Gary: Lick your armpit?

Why?

Anja Peach: Apparently it turns them on.

Gary: I don’t understand how that works.

Anja Peach: Neither do I. But there’s a fetish for pretty much everything.

Gary: How much do you charge for that?

Anja Peach: I think around eight tokens.

Gary: And what’s the exchange rate on tokens?

Anja Peach: I have no idea.

Gary: This is turning into a financial show now.

Anja Peach: Exactly.

Why Anja Uses Humor

Gary: You seem much more serious than I am about this stuff.

Anja Peach: I have a really dark sense of humor. I joke about a lot of things.

Sometimes I think it’s because of trauma. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just the way my brain works.

Even when I’m being serious, I can still find something funny about the situation.

Gary: Maybe that’s why we work well together. I joke about basically everything.

Anja Peach: I think humor is how I deal with some of the things I’ve experienced.

I’ve had to laugh about some things because if you don’t laugh, you’re going to cry.

Gary: Exactly.

At the same time, some of the things you’ve talked about are genuinely sad.

Anja Peach: They are.

It’s not all funny.

Present Day: Is Anja Happy With Camming?

Gary: So where are you now? Are you comfortable with what you’re doing?

Anja Peach: Yeah. Overall, I am.

I’m going to be real about it. I have a hard time pretending to be something I’m not.

I like authenticity in other people, too.

That’s probably part of why I can be vulnerable to scammers. I want to believe people are genuine.

Gary: That’s a good quality, but unfortunately there are people who take advantage of it.

Anja Peach: Exactly.

You want to believe people have good intentions, but sometimes they don’t.

And that’s hard to accept.

“The Grays”

Anja Peach: On Stripchat, I call some of the people who constantly message me or hang around my room “the grays.”

Their usernames are grayed out when they don’t have tokens.

You can also choose whether or not to display your token balance.

Gary: Why would somebody hide it?

Anja Peach: Maybe they have a lot and don’t want people to know.

Gary: Or maybe they don’t have anything.

Anja Peach: Exactly.

The Bodily Fluid Requests

The conversation then turned toward one of Anja’s more unusual niches.

Anja Peach: I do milk shows sometimes.

Gary: Milk shows?

Anja Peach: Breast milk.

Gary: You can still produce milk years after having children?

Anja Peach: Yes.

I have a four-year-old and a two-year-old, and I can still produce milk.

The more I do it, the more I seem to produce.

It’s actually one of the things I enjoy doing because the shows are relatively easy for me.

Gary: So people actually request that?

Anja Peach: Yes.

It’s part of my tip menu.

I can do different types of lactation shows, and I enjoy them.

The Vomit Story

Gary: All right. You mentioned a vomit story earlier.

Anja Peach: This guy was asking me a lot of questions about bodily-fluid-related things and what I would charge for different requests.

He was asking about things involving toys and other activities.

I have certain things that I only do in private or exclusive shows, and some things cost extra.

He kept asking questions and eventually asked if I would vomit into a cup.

I told him he’d have to tip extra.

He said he would.

So I did it.

I made myself gag, vomited into the cup, and then, almost immediately afterward, he disappeared from the chat.

Gary: He just left?

Anja Peach: Yep.

Two seconds later, he was gone.

I was furious.

Thankfully, I eventually ran into him again on Stripchat a few weeks later.

He wanted another show, and I told him, “You never paid me extra for that.”

He ended up tipping me for it.

So I eventually got paid for that part of the show.

Gary: That’s an absolutely ridiculous way to finally get paid.

Anja Peach: Yeah.

And there are certain things I would never agree to, regardless of how much somebody offered.

Exclusive Stories

Anja Peach: I actually have another story involving that same guy that’s even grosser.

Gary: Now you have to tell me.

Anja Peach: I don’t know if we should do it here.

Maybe that one should be exclusive content.

Gary: See? This is why you’re already a perfect co-host.

Anja Peach: Exactly. I’m learning.

Gary: If you want to hear the story, become a YouTube member or join Patreon.

Anja Peach: Honestly, I like both the advice and the stories.

When you’ve been doing this for years, there are certain things that stick in your head.

You remember the really weird interactions.

Race Play and Role-Play Requests

Gary: You also mentioned race play earlier.

Anja Peach: Yeah. Some clients request race-play scenarios.

I’ve had Black men ask me to use racist language toward them and call them names associated with slavery.

It means I have to come up with role-play scenarios based around what they’re requesting.

Gary: That’s got to be a strange situation to navigate.

Anja Peach: It can be.

I think sometimes people’s kinks can be connected to things they’ve experienced or ways they’ve processed certain experiences.

I don’t know exactly why someone develops a particular kink, but sometimes there’s probably more going on underneath it.

A Complicated Role-Play Story

Anja Peach: When I first started, I had a client who had a very elaborate role-play scenario.

He had an entire story worked out, including multiple characters whose names I had to remember.

The story involved an experience he said he’d had when he was younger with a babysitter.

He had the whole scenario planned out, and I had to memorize several names and details.

Gary: That’s a lot of preparation for a cam show.

Anja Peach: Yeah. Some people really have their role-play planned down to the smallest details.

The Difference Between Curiosity and Exploitation

Gary: It sounds like one of the biggest things you’ve learned is that you have to know your boundaries.

Anja Peach: Absolutely.

There are people who will ask extremely strange questions, and I’m okay with that as long as I’m being paid and it’s within my boundaries.

The problem is when somebody tries to manipulate you into giving them something for free.

You have to recognize the difference.

And new models especially need to understand that.

Gary: What about other cam models? Do you ever interact with them?

Anja Peach: I don’t really go looking at other models’ profiles, but some of the messages I get from male cam models can be pretty strange.

They’ll message me things like, “Hey, sexy. Come watch me perform.”

And I’m thinking, “Why would I want to do that?”

I didn’t ask you to come into my messages and invite me to watch you.

Gary: Can models even tip other models on Stripchat?

Anja Peach: I don’t think so. As a model, I don’t think you can use your tokens to tip another model.

I’m not entirely sure why that’s the case.

Anja’s Future Plans

Gary: You’ve talked about possibly starting your own streaming site.

Anja Peach: Yeah. That’s something I’ve thought about.

I recently heard about another streaming platform called Velvet Star through a photographer friend and fellow artist named Vapor.

It’s apparently run by models, and you need OBS to stream there.

The idea of a platform being run by models is interesting to me.

Gary: You really want to get into the business side of this.

Anja Peach: I do.

I’ve also thought about helping other women who want to get started.

I have people who can help set up websites and get everything organized.

Even if someone doesn’t want that, I’m happy to answer questions as a friend.

I want people to have somebody they can talk to before they make the same mistakes I made.

Camming Isn’t All Rainbows and Unicorn Farts

Gary: That’s important because people can look at online adult work and think it’s easy money.

Anja Peach: It’s not.

I don’t want anybody to sugarcoat this industry.

People sometimes get lucky. They hit on something that works. They catch a big break.

But for most people, you have to grind.

Gary: You have to work your ass off.

Anja Peach: Exactly.

Consistency is key.

You can’t sit there for an hour, make no money, and decide the entire job doesn’t work.

There are going to be days when nothing happens.

You can sit there for hours and have people chat with you, make it seem like they’re going to purchase something or book a show, and then they never actually do anything.

They’ve wasted your time, and now you’re in a terrible mood.

That happens.

It’s just like any other job. You’re going to have bad days.

Why Anja Keeps Camming

Anja Peach: But the good thing is that I can do this from home.

I can be a mom.

I can be there for my kids when they need me.

I can make my own schedule.

And especially if someone has physical or mental limitations that make traditional employment difficult, the flexibility can be a huge advantage.

It’s not an easy job, but the flexibility is something I really value.

Wrapping Up

Gary: Anya, my French friend.

Anja Peach: Russian.

Gary: Russian! My Russian friend.

Thank you for being here.

Anja Peach: Thank you for having me.

Gary: I think you would make a great co-host. You’re knowledgeable, you’re serious when you need to be, and you have a lot of experience.

Anja Peach: I’d love to do it.

Gary: Then we’re going to have to make that happen.

Anja Peach: Absolutely.

Gary: This has been a great learning experience for me.
